Gandhi Park in Tambaram is all set for Green Revolution

At present, the state government has decided to renovate the old landmarks of Chennai in order to give a new outlook. Tambaram also has an old landmark which is the Gandhi Park in Eastern side of Tambaram. The government has planned to renovate the park to set a new appearance soon. The civic body not only set greeneries around the park but also improves the walker’s pathway, cascades and central library. Before few decades back, the park was left unused due to certain factors but at present the government has decided to carry out renovation plans. An official from both water supply department and municipal administration said the journalist that, the contract for undertaking the work has been passed and Rs.53 lakhs has been allotted for the completion of renovation.

Once the park is restored to a new look, many people are expected to pay their visit since most people like to be in touch with nature. But they fail in it since nowadays the city has been polluted greatly and no green environment can be found. To be in naturally bond surroundings, Amarprakash gated communities can be the right choice. Registered with no Amarprakash Royal Castle complaints, the township is the choice for living next to greeneries. Already, a 9 feet walkers path along with the installation of lights is been ready. Around Rs.20 lakhs has already been spent on the renovation works within the park. Some of the works are installing cascades, planting trees, colorful lights etc. From May,2014, the park was ready for the use of general public and many people can be seen coming around the time for relaxation.

Rs. 26 lakh has been allocated for the construction of library building in the centre place of the park. Already, a library inaugurated in 1957 by Lourdammal Simon has been present. The government has planned to remodel it with more space and many books. This new library has consumed about Rs.25 lakhs. At a time, more than 50 readers can be accommodated in the library building and more than 30 thousand books and magazines are there thus benefitting the book worms. The government has constructed this big library for the benefits of senior citizens, students, book lovers etc.

For many years, this plan has been postponed by the local body due to many factors. More such parks have also fallen in the eyes of the state government which in turn started to take the improvement works. Further, open spaces are also taken by the government for the development of parks. Besides the improvement works, the officials should also inspect regularly whether the parks are maintained properly. Also, the residents have asked the government to keep the park open till 9 PM.
